      摘要Abstract:
      The German Reactor SafetyCommission (RSK) considers that a systematic ageing management for nuclearpower plants is necessary, against the backdrop of the decision of the GermanGovernment in September 2010 about the life time extension of the Germannuclear power plants. This decission was made a few months before the Fukushimaaccident. According to the Fukushima accident, this decision was annulated andthe the phase-out of nuclear power for Germany was decided. Independent on thisdifficult decision for the German nuclear industry, the establishment of asafety standard for ageing management system was continued.
      The presentation isfocused on the ageing of mechanical components and the requirements for thesecomponents described in the KTA 1403 safety standard. KTA is the German NuclearSafety Standards Commission which is responsible for the safety standards. Duethe fact that the ageing management is close related to the materialdegradation and thus on the integrity of the components, also modernnon-destructive testing techniques (NDT) must be available for the inspectionof these components. Therefore, some of possible NDT methods are presented inthe present contribution. The NDT methods are selected under the considerationof leak before break criteria on axial defects in pipes. Regarding thesedifferent needed interdisciplinary faculties, theguarantee for a functional ageing management is the task of upper plantmanagement.

      X-ray backscatter imagingis a well-established NDT technique to inspect complex objects using only asingle-sided access. We present a specially designed multi-slit scatter cameraconsisting of several twisted slits which are parallelly arranged in a metalblock. The camera projects one image per slit to the digital detector array,where the images are overlaying each other. The aperture is corrected based ona de-convolution algorithm to focus the overlaying projections into a singlerepresentation of the object. In order to achieve high backscatter intensitiesfrom an object, it is necessary to optimize the parameters of the backscattersystem by simulation.

      摘要Abstract:
      Following the designrules and considering the safety factors, the lifetime of nuclear power plants(NPP), worldwide is expected to be in the range of 40 years. Obviously, withinsuch a lifespan the components and systems under heavy mechanical (static anddynamic pressure, vibration), thermic and irradiation loads, suffer ageingphenomena which are Thermal Ageing, Corrosion, Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF), HighCycle Fatigue(HCF), Very high Cycle Fatigue (VHCF) and Irradiation Damage dueto neutrons – and the possible synergy of the phenomena together. However, theelectrical power producing utilities as operators of the NPP, perform a‘predictive maintenance’, also called ‘retrofitting’, by timely performing thereplacement of especially stressed components. Examples for these replacementprocedures are the change of heat-exchangers and parts of the main coolingpipes, like hot knees near heat-exchangers or components of the surge-line in pressurized-waterNPP. As the components, which are replaced, always are manufactured accordingthe newest technical state of the art, the retrofitting enhances inherentlyalso the safety standard. In Germany, where due to the ‘Atomic Law’, the safetyof the plants is asked for, this law – beside economic reasons of a highertechnical availability – is the driver for replacement. The IAAEA hatintroduced [1] safety standards for Ageing Management and according thesedocuments, worldwide most of the atomic energy producing countries have adoptedtheir national guidelines, newly introducing mainly fatigue conditionmonitoring.
      In Germany, beginningvery early in 1978, in the so-called ‘Nuclear Safety Research Program, R&Dwas initialized to develop NDT procedures for ‘Materials Characterization’ aspreventive procedures, detecting the degradation of materials in terms ofchanges in the mechanical-technological properties, like strengtheningproperties as Yield- or Tensile-strength, or hardness- and toughness-changes.
      The proposed paperdiscusses, on one hand, the application of the 3MA-strategy(Micromagnetic,Multiparameter, Microstructure and Stress Analysis) onferromagnetic components and Eddy-Current-based and Ultrasonic techniques onaustenitic materials for early-characterizing fatigued microstructures – beforecracking and, on the other hand, characterization of irradiation damage inpressure-vessel steels.

      The direct detection ofX-ray photons into electrical signals is allowed by usage of highly absorbingphoto conducting materials (e.g. CdTe) as detection layer of an underlying CMOSsemiconductor X-ray image detector.. If the read-out speed is high enough (ca.50 – 100 ns dead time) single X-ray photons can be counted and their energymeasured. Read-out noise and dark image correction can be avoided. By setting energythresholds selected energy ranges of the X-ray spectrum can be detected orsuppressed. This allows material discrimination or reduction of scatteredradiation, which results in an enhanced contrast sensitivity.

      Electromagnetic waves inthe frequency range between 0.1 and 10 THz are described as THz-radiation(T-ray). The ability to penetrate dielectric materials, to operate contactlessand to be non-ionizing as well as being insensitive to ambient temperaturesmakes THz technologies for NDT applications attractive especially where othertechniques are not available or less suitable. Today T-rays are applied innon-destructive testing for quality control and condition monitoring issues.The operation is based on the combination of both transmission and/orreflection measurements and specially developed reconstruction procedures.Firstly, THz-TDS measurements will be presented to demonstrate theopportunities for spectroscopy and imaging of polymer materials. A SAFTalgorithm and an Optical Layer-Model will be presented and discussed in moredetail to demonstrate the opportunities of image reconstruction forvisualization of the inner structures of optically and far infra-red opaquepolymer composites.

      A special 3D tomographicalgorithm was developed for mobile inspection of large objects. The method isbased on a coplanar scan of an X-ray tube parallel to the surface of a digitaldetector array (DDA). Two different designs were developed and applied for 3Dtesting of welded pipes in nuclear power plants and large aircraft componentsmade from carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP). The reconstructed tomographicimages permit the detection, characterization and measurement of the dimensionsof flaws with enhanced sensitivity compared to conventional radiography and UT.
